I am running for Mono Town Council because I want to be a part of the team that stewards our community and creates solutions that work for the long term. This includes careful planning for the future, being open to new ideas and continuing to build an inclusive community for all our residents. I will fight to protect our water, our people, and our environment.
Sustainability and inclusion must be a cornerstone in planning. This protects our farmlands and supports our farmers. This means listening to our residents and maintaining our roads, taking care of our parks and our neighbours.
As part of the Headwaters, we are caretakers of a vital resource; careful protection of our waters is critical. I will oppose proposals that would jeopardize our aquifers, well-being and our property values. I will be careful with your tax dollars: I am a working mother of three and my husband and I are building our own house – I know how to stretch a dollar, discern the need to have from nice to have, while making sure our foundations are strong.
With deep roots in Mono and as a community worker and mother, I bring a commitment to the people of this town and its future.
I promise:
- To work hard and be prepared
- To listen to you and to work to find the best possible solution for you and our community.
- To be accountable for my decisions and positions.
- To look for alternate sources of municipal funding. It doesn’t always have to be taxpayers that foot the bill.
- To be open to new ideas and work to understand what the research, experts, and those most affected by a situation, recommend.
- To have a lot of questions.
Here is what you aren’t getting from me:
- Someone who comes to every issue with their mind already made up.
- Someone who thinks short term.
- Someone who won’t stand up for what is right.

My family have lived in this area for five generations, and I am raising the 6th. My great grandfather ran the Mono Centre general store and my children go to school and summer camp here. Although I didn’t grow up here myself, I am invested in both the history and the future of Mono.
I have spent my career in community work and adult education. I have lived and worked on three continents, in three provinces, in large cities and tiny hamlets. I have a joint honours degree in History and Philosophy from McGill and a Masters of Social Work from York University. My family and I finally settled in Mono in 2023 to build our house and life, but there has never been a year when I did not spend significant time here.
There is so much beauty in the world. I have had the privilege of seeing a lot of it. And I chose to return here, to me the most beautiful place I have ever been. The people, the nature, and the community – this is where I want my family to grow, this is where my roots are and this is where I want to be part of the team that works together to keep Mono beautiful and build a vibrant, caring and thriving community.

The voting period is October 16th to 26th 2026.

Voting in this municipal election in Mono will be online or by phone.
You can go to the Town hall to get support with this if you need to.
You will have:
- One vote for Mayor
- One vote for Deputy Mayor
- 3 votes for councillors
- One vote for the school board trustee in the board you are a part of (if not acclaimed)
For folks who are unhoused, to vote in a municipal election, you can go to the municipality in which you have slept most frequently in the last 5 weeks and make a declaration at the Town office that this is the case. The staff should be able to then set you up to vote.
